Acquired from an altitude of 705km this Landsat 7 ETM+ false colour image over Central Siberia has been enhanced using the thermal, short wave infrared and green wavelengths displayed as red, green and blue.  The image covers an area 40km x 35km.

Frozen and desolate from the harsh Siberian winters this wetland landscape is brought to life during the summer months. Melted periglacial lakes (black) are scattered throughout this region of boggy vegetation (pink and lilac). Coniferous forest (dark green) and river channels bordered by marsh (green) complete this wetland picture.
