Acquired from an altitude of 705km this Landsat 7 ETM+ false colour image over Lake Eyre in the deserts of central Australia has been enhanced using the short-wave infrared, near infrared and green wavelengths displayed as red, green and blue. The image covers an area 40km x 35km.
This lake is filled with playa salt which is highlighted by the cyan and grey colours on the image. During the rainy season rivers from the north flow towards and break through the salt pan as highlighted by the moving currents (blue/dark blue).
