Acquired from an altitude of 705km this Landsat 7 ETM+ false colour image over the South Caspian region, North Iran has been enhanced using the short-wave infrared, near infrared and green wavelengths displayed as red, green and blue. The image covers an area 40km x 35km.
This remote desert wilderness is composed of alluvial fans, exposed bedrock and desert soils. The cyan coloured salt encrusted areas known as sabkha dominate the landscape.
