Acquired from an altitude of 705km this Landsat 7 ETM+ false colour image over the Arctic has been enhanced using the thermal infrared, short-wave infrared and green wavelengths displayed as red, green and blue. The image covers an area 80km x 70km.
This image highlights the breakup of the Arctic ice (cyan), the thin ice (purple) has cracks appear where warmer trapped water below the ice is highlighted as red/orange on the image.
